Responding to the 20/21 RSA Student Design Awards brief ‘Bridging the Divide’, and inspired by swarm intelligence and the effect small-scale, cooperative interactions have on larger systems, COSM attempts to pave the way towards more cohesive communities. Designed by and for local users, community members can play collaborative games online to earn vouchers to local business and services in the physical world. Users can learn to cooperate through a series of small, decentralised interactions, which can lead to more sustainable, resilient community networks. This small-scale cooperation can also serve as a base for tackling more serious issues through the collective action of community members.
COSM is about changing how users belong to their communities. It encourages and enables community members new and old to connect with each other in the virtual and physical worlds, all while benefiting the local economy. Featuring the positive power of social media in building and supporting communities, the future of this concept can grow with the introduction of emerging technologies to become a community resource; a platform where gaming, volunteering, the gig economy, and other community activities coalesce.

ISU Focus Grant - 2015/2016
This project stems from my interest in alternative materials and sustainability as it relates to the apparel industry. After reviewing the work of Suzanne Lee, I attempted to grow my own fabric using Symbiotic Cultures of Bacteria and Yeast, or SCOBYs. The two objectives of this project included the elimination of the post-harvest dyeing process and the construction of garments and accessories without sewn seams.
